Hello Magazine Article

Lucia Silver’s home mirrors the rich and graceful interior of her hip London boutique. As she explains to Gabrielle Fagan, the key to her style is individuality.

The bedroom with its oriental character. Lucia has a passion for textiles, which she collects from all over the world, particularly India and China. Jewelled, embroidered cushions provide an opulent touch and complement a Wigwam fuchsia silk quilt and a glamorous mirrored dressing table.

Explaining her style ethos, Lucia says “I hate contrived interiors. My approach is to bring together everything I love and allow the beauty of the objects to shine through. I like putting things together in a way that is unexpected”

The vast lounge in Lucia and Hugo’s London flat. A 15th Century circular Madonna and Child painting is the focal point in this airy space. At night friends gather in the candlelit room, often sitting on floor cushions around the coffee table, made from a 150 year old ox card.

With her stylish and unconventional choice of furniture, such as the glass dining table with gnarled tree trunk base and carved Victorian chairs, Lucia has created a sumptuous and comfortable living space.

Lucia Silver and her husband Hugo have blended pieces from the 20th Century and styles from around the world in their Notting Hill Gate home to create a home of character and individuality.
